So for my method section I plan on having a survey being sent out among my peers to get a general thought of the main question that is the focus of my essay. The question is ‘What classifies as a sandwich?’. So with my survey I am including some questions along the lines of ‘Is _____ a sandwich?’ I would ask 5 of those question and then an open response one of ‘What would you define as a sandwich or give an example of a 100% sandwich’. This last question I feel is important to summarize ones thoughts. It brings to conclusion the main thing people see as a sandwich. As in they will argue to the most capacity that this is a sandwich no matter what. I chose a survey method as the most probable way to find my research about my main question because a survey in my case is straight to the point and will give me exactly what I am looking for. There is no need to beat around the bush and avoid asking the question directly because I am not trying to get a the responser to give me an answer without them being aware of what they are giving. I would really like the people taking my survey to thin about the response they are giving me. Since this survey will be my main research part, it will be where I get most of my data from. Of course I will also be resorting to the internet for basic universal definitions and to see any other research done about my topic. Lastly my audience that I am trying to reach is not really any specific audience, it is quite actually the opposite. As general as they come so that I am able to see the general public opinion on my topic. The general public is the target audience so there is no bias when the results of the survey come in.

So at thanksgiving diner a lot of possible topics are being brought up that everyone is trying to avoid. Person A might be the one bringing everything up. Person B’s response to person A can simply be “Here we go again” meaning that this person always does this every time by bringing up topics they clearly don’t want to talk about. This violates the quality, quantity, and relevance part of the mixims. It is not contributing any truth nor false information. Though it is short and not giving too much info it is not correlating to what was said by answering the question person A would have asked. And relevance as it does not exactly relate to what was asked by person A it was just an input. I do think it follows the be brief part of the manner maxims though. Because you can get any more subtle and brief than a sarcastic under the breath comment. While an example of what A could possibly say could be along the lines of “How is work/school going?” or “Have you gotten vaccinated yet?”. Just some examples that would make sense for person B to respond the way they did.

So for my essay I was thinking of doing the topic of sandwich that we discussed in class. So what classifies a sandwich as a sandwich? I would personally survey the people in class and possibly my work because that seems the most possible and time wise would be helpful. Some difficulties is that i think i need to limit the word and I do not know how to do that. Because sandwich can be very broad and i feel like in need to find the common factor to limit myself. The word “sandwich’ is also very vague so i would have to include that. Theres also what a company might define as a sandwich and what the people decide as a sandwich. Because i think it goes back to the people and what they classify to be a sandwich. Some sources I have thought about was using the text book obviously and also some google searches if anyone had done research on the topic already. It seems like a topic one would have already done a type of research on it. But also if not i will use my own research which might be limited to the area of new york city but it is more than what i would have had. I truly think I am going to end up confusing myself because it would seem that i should have an opinion already on this and stick by it throughout my essay but i might just end up convincing myself other wise if i think to much of the topic. So i feel like if i would need help it would be where i draw the line to this topic like where is my line because i can go though many culture or countries and other things but maybe i can just choose what i am willing to discuss and do that. Even though there can be A LOT discussed i clearly cant do it all so it would have to be set to a limit. Also will use the csi library site because in class it seemed really useful.

The presupposition trigger word is “managed”. It presupposes that the workers wanted to close early.
3a presupposes 3b
If Kelly went to sleep early, she wouldn’t have missed the bus.

As simple as this blog is the hardest part was deciding on the words to use, but finally I think I have my words. So a pair of expressions that have the same denotation but different expression would be ‘test’ and ‘examination’. These words both mean taking something that is meant to see your skill level in it. But when saying either word one directly thinks of academics but they are on different levels. When saying ‘test’ it could be a weekly thing happening. Or something the teacher decides to surprise one with. Possibly something one even forgets they have. While the word ‘examination’ has a stronger meaning to it rather than the positive or negative you’d expect from these words. So when saying ‘examination’ this directly reminds me of midterms, finals, regents, ap exams, and like SAT’s. Just those seriously things in life that get. to depict how your future turns out. Though now to some the words differ like, ‘test’ might not even be for school and be a drug test, or testing ones battery. it all returns to ones expression and knowledge. But in general used in similar manors.

Hey everyone, hope this works.
